Deployment Method:

NOTE

This applies to both open source and commercial editions of Chocolatey.

1. Enter Your Internal Repository Url

(this should look similar to https://community.chocolatey.org/api/v2/)

2. Setup Your Environment

1. Ensure you are set for organizational deployment

Please see the organizational deployment guide

2. Get the package into your environment

  • Open Source or Commercial:
    • Proxy Repository - Create a proxy nuget repository on Nexus, Artifactory Pro, or a proxy Chocolatey repository on ProGet. Point your upstream to https://community.chocolatey.org/api/v2/. Packages cache on first access automatically. Make sure your choco clients are using your proxy repository as a source and NOT the default community repository. See source command for more information.
    • You can also just download the package and push it to a repository Download

3. Copy Your Script

choco upgrade xsplit-vcam -y --source="'INTERNAL REPO URL'" --version="'4.1.2210.2601'" [other options]

See options you can pass to upgrade.

See best practices for scripting.

Add this to a PowerShell script or use a Batch script with tools and in places where you are calling directly to Chocolatey. If you are integrating, keep in mind enhanced exit codes.

If you do use a PowerShell script, use the following to ensure bad exit codes are shown as failures:

choco upgrade xsplit-vcam -y --source="'INTERNAL REPO URL'" --version="'4.1.2210.2601'"
$exitCode = $LASTEXITCODE

Write-Verbose "Exit code was $exitCode"
$validExitCodes = @(0, 1605, 1614, 1641, 3010)
if ($validExitCodes -contains $exitCode) {
  Exit 0
}

Exit $exitCode

- name: Install xsplit-vcam
  win_chocolatey:
    name: xsplit-vcam
    version: '4.1.2210.2601'
    source: INTERNAL REPO URL
    state: present

See docs at https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/latest/modules/win_chocolatey_module.html.

chocolatey_package 'xsplit-vcam' do
  action :install
  source 'INTERNAL REPO URL'
  version '4.1.2210.2601'
end

See docs at https://docs.chef.io/resource_chocolatey_package.html.

Package Notes

This package depends on downloading from XSplit's official distribution point. Therefore, supportability should be expected to follow XSplit's support policy. Notably, once a given version is no longer supported, availability of the installer binary cannot be guaranteed. Consequently, this package version should generally be considered obsolete and unsupported once the consumed software version reaches end-of-support.

Consider internalizing this package if you require the ability to install this specific version after it reaches end-of-support.

The installer executed by this package was built using Advanced Installer. However, this package consumes an alternate Windows Installer MSI distribution intended for enterprise deployments, and does not execute the bootstrapper that is typically consumed by end-users.

Notable properties include:

  • ProductLanguage - Overrides the default language configuration. Uses a LANGID value.

    Supported LANGID values include:

    LANGID Language
    1028 Chinese - Taiwan
    1030 Danish - Denmark
    1031 German - Germany
    1033 English - United States
    1036 French - France
    1041 Japanese - Japan
    1042 Korean - Korea
    1046 Portuguese - Brazil
    1049 Russian - Russia
    2052 Chinese - China
    3082 Spanish - Modern Sort - Spain
  • AI_DESKTOP_SH - Add shortcut to the Desktop. Defaults to 1, disable with 0.

  • AI_STARTMENU_SH - Add shortcut to the Start Menu. Defaults to 1, disable with 0.

  • XI_ONBOARD - Show onboarding messages. Defaults to 1, disable with 0.

  • XI_AUTOUPDATE - Allows the end-user to upgrade the software. Defaults to 0, enable with 1. If enabling, consider pinning this package after installation.

Any desired arguments can simply be appended to the package's default install arguments using Chocolatey's --install-arguments option.

Example

choco install xsplit-vcam --install-arguments "ProductLanguage=3082 AI_DESKTOP_SH=0 XI_ONBOARD=0"

For future upgrade operations, consider opting into Chocolatey's useRememberedArgumentsForUpgrades feature to avoid having to pass the same arguments with each upgrade:

choco feature enable --name=useRememberedArgumentsForUpgrades

In cases where actual malware is found, the packages are subject to removal. Software sometimes has false positives. Moderators do not necessarily validate the safety of the underlying software, only that a package retrieves software from the official distribution point and/or validate embedded software against official distribution point (where distribution rights allow redistribution).

Chocolatey Pro provides runtime protection from possible malware.
