IMPORTANT

This version is in moderation and has not yet been approved. This means it doesn't show up under normal search.

  • Until approved, you should consider this package version unsafe - it could do very bad things to your system (it probably doesn't but you have been warned, that's why we have moderation).
  • This package version can change wildly over the course of moderation until it is approved. If you install it and it later has changes to this version, you will be out of sync with any changes that have been made to the package. Until approved, you should consider that this package version doesn't even exist.
  • You cannot install this package under normal scenarios. See How to install package version under moderation for more information.
  • There are also no guarantees that it will be approved.
WARNING

There are versions of this package awaiting moderation (possibly just this one). See the Version History section below.

isx has passed automated validation. It may have or may still fail other checks like testing (verification).
NOTE: No required changes that the validator checks have been flagged! It is appreciated if you fix other items, but only Requirements will hold up a package version from approval. A human review could still turn up issues a computer may not easily find.

Guidelines

Guidelines are strong suggestions that improve the quality of a package version. These are considered something to fix for next time to increase the quality of the package. Over time Guidelines can become Requirements. A package version can be approved without addressing Guideline comments but will reduce the quality of the package.

  • The iconUrl should be added if there is one. Please correct this in the nuspec, if applicable. More...
Notes

Notes typically flag things for both you and the reviewer to go over. Sometimes this is the use of things that may or may not be necessary given the constraints of what you are trying to do and/or are harder for automation to flag for other reasons. Items found in Notes might be Requirements depending on the context. A package version can be approved without addressing Note comments.

  • Binary files (.exe, .msi, .zip) have been included. The reviewer will ensure the maintainers have distribution rights. More...

isx has passed automated package testing (verification). The next step in the process is package scanning.
Please visit https://gist.github.com/choco-bot/970cd8263f8cff769bf8b907292ff68b for details.
This is an FYI only. There is no action you need to take.

chocolatey-ops (reviewer) on 26 May 2025 05:28:13 +00:00:

isx has been flagged as part of automated virus scanning.
Package virus scanning found that at least 1 file within, or downloaded by, the package has between 1 and 5 VirusTotal detections associated with it.
This is not enough detections to prevent the approval of this package version.

Description

ISx

ISx is a simple file extractor that extracts all components of a given InstallShield installer executable, including (but not limited to):

  • InstallShield CAB files
  • Compiled installation scripts/rules (i.e. INX/INS files)
  • Setup initialization files
  • Language-specific string resource files
  • Underlying MSI packages
  • Packaged setup prerequisites

ISx is intended to serve as an open-source alternative to IsXunpack.

Usage Example

ISx.exe "D:\Local\setup.exe"

Package Parameters

The packaged archive ships with both x86 (32-bit) and amd64 (64-bit) binaries, but this package will only create a single shim (named ISx) appropriate for your environment by default. If you require different shimming behavior, use the appropriate switch(es) for your use case:

Parameter Environment Applicability Description
/ShimWithPlatform All environments Creates a second shim with an explicit platform name (i.e. ISx-x86 and/or ISX-amd64). Use if you require disambiguation for your commands/scripts.
/SkipLegacyShim 32-bit only (forceable in 64-bit with --forcex86 switch) For backward compatibility with legacy use cases depending on the x86 binary, the ISx shim will target the x86 binary instead. Use if this shim is undesired or unnecessary. Usage implies /ShimWithPlatform, as no shim would otherwise be created if omitted.
/ShimAllBinaries 64-bit only Use if you require both binaries to be shimmed. For naming consistency with the x86 binary, consider combining with /ShimWithPlatform.

VERIFICATION
Verification is intended to assist the Chocolatey moderators and community
in verifying that this package's contents are trustworthy.

The packaged Windows portable archive is available for independent download via the
Releases page on ISx's GitHub repository. A download link for the packaged version
is included at the following URL:
https://github.com/lifenjoiner/ISx/releases/tag/v0.3.10

For convenience, this is a direct URL to the relevant asset:
https://github.com/lifenjoiner/ISx/releases/download/v0.3.10/ISx-v0.3.10.7z

The following PowerShell command will print a calculated SHA256 hash:

    (Get-FileHash -Path ISx-v0.3.10.7z -Algorithm SHA256).Hash

This command should be executed against an independently downloaded archive, as well
as the copy distributed with the package. Both hash values should be identical. A
matching hash value should confirm that no corruption or tampering has occurred
during this package's generation process.

For reference, the following SHA256 hash was calculated during the package's automated creation:

In cases where actual malware is found, the packages are subject to removal. Software sometimes has false positives. Moderators do not necessarily validate the safety of the underlying software, only that a package retrieves software from the official distribution point and/or validate embedded software against official distribution point (where distribution rights allow redistribution).

Chocolatey Pro provides runtime protection from possible malware.
