This Package Contains an Exempted Check
Not All Tests Have Passed
This package is likely a meta/virtual (*) or an installer (*.install) or portable (*.portable) application package.
- Meta/virtual (*) - has a dependency on the *.install or the *.portable package - it is provided for discoverability and for other packages to take a dependency on.
- Portable (*.portable/*.commandline (deprecated naming convention)/*.tool (deprecated naming convention)) - usually zips or archives that require no administrative access to install.
- Install (*.install/*.app (deprecated naming convention)) - uses native installers, usually requires administrative access to install.

This version is in moderation and has not yet been approved. This means it doesn't show up under normal search.
- Until approved, you should consider this package version unsafe - it could do very bad things to your system (it probably doesn't but you have been warned, that's why we have moderation).
- This package version can change wildly over the course of moderation until it is approved. If you install it and it later has changes to this version, you will be out of sync with any changes that have been made to the package. Until approved, you should consider that this package version doesn't even exist.
- You cannot install this package under normal scenarios. See How to install package version under moderation for more information.
- There are also no guarantees that it will be approved.
There are versions of this package awaiting moderation (possibly just this one). See the Version History section below.
winIDEA in conjunction with a Hardware debugger or a virtual ECU simulator is an IDE for debugging, testing, and analyzing embedded systems. It stands out as a comprehensive tool for embedded development engineers, providing support of a wide range of MCU's included in one license.
Benefits
- MCU/FLASH control and Real-time analysis: Supports multi-core and multi-MCU synchronous debug & trace across various MCUs architectures, their on-chip and external memory programming, as well as timing and network analysis with MCU-to-network event correlation
- RTOS awareness for RTOS, AUTOSAR, Embedded Linux, and Hypervisor
- Test and certification: Automated unit, integration, and system testing without the need for code instrumentation, along with code coverage analysis and early development with virtual hardware
- Find the full list of benefits and features here
Features
- Choose your IDE - use the winIDEA IDE or take advantage of its powerful debugging capabilities into various other IDEs (like Visual Studio Code, Aurix Development Studio, Eclipse and more) through supported extensions or plugins
- Automation SDKs - for automating repetitive tasks winIDEA Software Development Kit (SDK) provides a vast set of APIs supporting a variety of programming languages (Python, Java, C#, MATLAB).
- Virtual ECUs - start early product prototyping and accelerate software development via Virtual ECUs, typically before real ECU hardware or the SoC is even available. As soon as target hardware is available, simply switch to it with a mouse click and continue working on real hardware.
- Continuous Integration - winIDEA in conjunction with the BlueBox hardware can become an integral component of the Continuous Integration (CI) infrastructure
- Third-party tools - winIDEA supports Infineon DAP miniWiggler, PEmicro, Renesas E1/E20/E2 Debugger, and ST-Link
Package parameters
/ForceKill
- terminate/kill opened winIDEA processes immediately/SkipChecks
- skip some basic checks in the scripts (e.g. OS version)/APPDIR:[path]
- specify custom install folder (defaults to package's tools directory, usually in C:\ProgramData\chocolatey\lib\winidea.portable\tools\ )
NOTE: When using the /APPDIR parameter to install winIDEA in a custom folder, the same parameter (and path) must be used with all other Chocolatey commands (upgrade and uninstall), or it will be set to the default path. Also be cautious when specifying path and its location, as the uninstaller will delete the folder and all of its contents during uninstallation (use a separate subfolder dedicated solely for winIDEA files).
Examples
choco install winidea.portable --params="/SkipChecks"
- install winIDEA in default path
choco upgrade winidea.portable --params="/ForceKill"
- upgrade winIDEA in default path
choco install winidea.portable --version 9.21.283 --params="/APPDIR:C:\winIDEA install path"
- install winIDEA version 9.21.283 in C:\winidea install path
choco uninstall winidea.portable --params="/APPDIR:C:\winIDEA install path"
- uninstall winIDEA in C:\winidea install path

In cases where actual malware is found, the packages are subject to removal. Software sometimes has false positives. Moderators do not necessarily validate the safety of the underlying software, only that a package retrieves software from the official distribution point and/or validate embedded software against official distribution point (where distribution rights allow redistribution).
Chocolatey Pro provides runtime protection from possible malware.

winidea.portable has passed automated validation. It may have or may still fail other checks like testing (verification).
NOTE: No required changes that the validator checks have been flagged! It is appreciated if you fix other items, but only Requirements will hold up a package version from approval. A human review could still turn up issues a computer may not easily find.
Guidelines
Guidelines are strong suggestions that improve the quality of a package version. These are considered something to fix for next time to increase the quality of the package. Over time Guidelines can become Requirements. A package version can be approved without addressing Guideline comments but will reduce the quality of the package.
packageSourceUrl
, pointing to the url where the package source resides. This is a strong guideline because it simplifies collaboration. Please add it to the nuspec. More...chocolatey-ops (reviewer) on 20 May 2025 14:38:56 +00:00:

winidea.portable was exempted from virus scanning of this version.
The reason given for the exemption was:
Package contains file(s) too big to be uploaded to VirusTotal!
The package scanner had problems with the following files:
winIDEA_x64_9_21_334_217137.7z
: File is too big to scan - the limit is 200MB and this file is 703.96MB
