Requirements

Requirements represent the minimum quality of a package that is acceptable. When a package version has failed requirements, the package version requires fixing and/or response by the maintainer. Provided a Requirement has flagged correctly, it must be fixed before the package version can be approved. The exact same version should be uploaded during moderation review.

Guidelines

Guidelines are strong suggestions that improve the quality of a package version. These are considered something to fix for next time to increase the quality of the package. Over time Guidelines can become Requirements. A package version can be approved without addressing Guideline comments but will reduce the quality of the package.

wvd-boot-loader has passed automated validation. It may have or may still fail other checks like testing (verification).
NOTE: No required changes that the validator checks have been flagged! It is appreciated if you fix other items, but only Requirements will hold up a package version from approval. A human review could still turn up issues a computer may not easily find.

Is there a reason that the checksum arguments are commented out?

keyoke (maintainer) on 02 Jan 2021 13:20:14 +00:00:

The problem I have is cant include msi in choco package due to license and the distribution endpoint always returns the latest version, my backup plan was to release a 1.0.0 version which will always download and install latest from source location. Not sure if you have better idea?

gep13 (reviewer) on 02 Jan 2021 17:27:56 +00:00:

This sounds like a similar problem to what happens with the Google Chrome package.

Ideally, you would always release a new package version when an application is updated, rather than a single package version of 1.0.0.

If you can automate the process, this makes handling this situation a little easier.

Commenting out the checksums aren't really an option though.

keyoke (maintainer) on 03 Jan 2021 05:28:18 +00:00:

agree and originally I thought it would work this way but what I found was as soon as a new msi was released all prior choco package versions started to fail checksum validation. This of course makes sense given the fact I am downloading the latest msi every time. I will take a look at the chrome package not sure how they solved this issue. these are the first choco packages which have published certainly doesnt seem to be the easiest tool to package. haha

gep13 (reviewer) on 04 Jan 2021 14:24:52 +00:00:

You are correct, previous Chocolatey package versions will start to fail, but that (by itself) is no reason to not push a package version that matches the application version.

Folks using the commericial version of Chocolatey will still be able to use the old package versions as they will make use of the private CDN that Chocolatey offers.

keyoke (maintainer) on 07 Jan 2021 12:35:21 +00:00:

Hi, Ok I will re-instate the Auto Update functionality. Does private CDN cache the original MSI seperately from the choco package? I think its still not a great experience for people not using the pro version due to the checksum validation error and the fact that a newer version of the MSI will be used which doesnt match the choco package version.
Cheers

@gep13 - do you have any feedback related to my previous comment?
Many Thanks

gep13 (reviewer) on 25 Feb 2021 10:32:18 +00:00:

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner about this!

I totally agree that this isn't an ideal solution, but ultimately, this is a limitation on the part of the upstream application vendor, not of Chocolatey itself.

The CDN caches files separately to the Chocolatey Package, yes.

Thanks for getting and auto update functionality back it, appreciate it!

How should we move forward with this package? Should this package version be rejected, in favour of the actual application version number?

chocolatey-ops (reviewer) on 17 Mar 2021 10:34:49 +00:00:

We've found wvd-boot-loader v1.0.0 in a submitted status and waiting for your next actions. It has had no updates for 20 or more days since a reviewer has asked for corrections. Please note that if there is no response or fix of the package within 15 days of this message, this package version will automatically be closed (rejected) due to being stale.

Take action:

  • Log in to the site and respond to the review comments.
  • Resubmit fixes for this version.
  • If the package version is failing automated checks, you can self-reject the package.

If your package is failing automated testing, you can use the chocolatey test environment to manually run the verification and determine what may need to be fixed.

Note: We don't like to see packages automatically rejected. It doesn't mean that we don't value your contributions, just that we can not continue to hold packages versions in a waiting status that have possibly been abandoned. If you don't believe you will be able to fix up this version of the package within 15 days, we strongly urge you to log in to the site and respond to the review comments until you are able to.

chocolatey-ops (reviewer) on 01 Apr 2021 23:15:22 +00:00:

Unfortunately there has not been progress to move wvd-boot-loader v1.0.0 towards an approved status within 15 days after the last review message, so we need to close (reject) the package version at this time. If you want to pick this version up and move it towards approval in the future, use the contact site admins link on the package page and we can move it back into a submitted status so you can submit updates.

Status Change - Changed status of package from 'submitted' to 'rejected'.
